Arlene Starkel

Arlene, who was born and raised in Ronan, is the Office Manager at Ronan Eye Clinic. She is sometimes referred to as "the glue that holds everything together".

Arlene began her career with the clinic 32 years ago when she accepted a two-day a week, part-time job.  As the practice grew, so did Arlene's job responsibilities and her job slowly transitioned into a career.  When the in-house lab opened in 1985, Arlene became "self-taught" as a lab technician and took pride in that work for 17 years.  She also became a Board Certified Optician during this time period.  She says,  "making glasses was something I thoroughly enjoyed.  Now, as Office Manager, my duties have become more complex as the business has grown and it's necessary for me to understand many other aspects of managing a clinic – it's been an ongoing education!"  She attributes the fact that she turned a part-time job with the clinic into a career to the respect and admiration she has for Dr. Ofstad and the wonderful, personal care he gives to his patients and his employees.

When not at the clinic, Arlene enjoys her family, 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, her many pets, and gardening.
