Comprehensive Eye Exams –

Ronan Eye ClinicYour comprehensive eye exam at Ronan Eye Clinic involves not only assessing the need for corrective lenses, but also involves tests and evaluations of the overall eye health. An eye examination begins with a gathering of information and history of your general health, medical history and medications that you are taking. Our doctors have knowledge and training to examine, diagnose and treat problems related to diabetes and many other health problems. You will be checked for the presence of any signs of Glaucoma (damage due to increased pressure in the eye), Cataracts (a clouding in the eye), muscle imbalance and various retina problems.

Special Diagnostic Tools and Services

Ronan Eye ClinicDigital Retinal Photography – Our office now has the ability to track the health of your eyes – and in some instances, overall health – using the latest in digital retinal photography. Using this camera we can take a high resolution photo of your retina to help in the diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol problems, macular degeneration, and even tumors. In the event that problems are discovered, this information can be emailed to your primary care physician for treatment.

Topography – A Topographer takes an instant 20,000 point map of the cornea surface (front lens of the eye). It analyzes the data to precisely map the majority of the optics of your eye.

Pachymetry – This instrument is an ultra-sound instrument that measures the precise thickness of the cornea.

Ronan Eye ClinicVisual Fields Testing – Our clinic has the equipment to perform peripheral vision tests that precisely map your side (peripheral) vision. It may be used to test for Glaucoma and other neurological vision disorders.

Treatment of Eye Diseases - Our Doctors are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of many different eye diseases. Among the most common eye conditions seen in our clinic is what is commonly referred to as "pink eye", as well as allergy, bacterial and fungal infections, chemical reactions, or foreign bodies in the eye. Other conditions commonly treated by our doctors include glaucoma, iritis, dry eye, trauma and many more.

Eye Surgery Management – When surgery is indicated, we work closely with several highly respected Ophthalmologists in the area. When our doctors discover a problem requiring surgery or consultation, we have referral options with corneal surgeons, cataract surgeons and retinal surgeons.

Cataract Surgery – Cataract Surgery is the most common surgery needed in the United States. Ronan Eye Clinic offers the services of in house pre-operative consultation and care by our consulting surgeon. When surgery is determined to be necessary, it can be conveniently preformed at St. Luke Hospital . Our patients may also elect to have the procedure done with a surgeon of their choice. We will also work closely with this surgeon to provide the optimum care.

Emergency Eye Care – Our doctors are trained to evaluate and treat eye emergencies including foreign bodies imbedded in the eye (dirt, wood, metal shavings etc.) scratches of the eye, flashes and floaters, red eyes and common eye infections. Immediate referrals to surgeons are made depending on need, or consultations may be conveniently arranged with our in-house visiting surgeons.

Laser Vision Correction - Our doctors have knowledge and training that enables them to co-manage laser vision correction. The patient may be seen by one of our doctors for an evaluation to determine whether or not they are qualified for this procedure. If the decision is made to proceed with surgery, the patient would be referred to a qualified surgeon, and then return to our clinic for post-operative care.
